1.0 Overview

The current convergence of masses of Southern humid air and low pressure covering parts of Zimbabwe continues to be witnessed in the Midlands region. Mberengwa West has been hard hit by ephemeral floods. These were characterized with high speed winds and some hailstorm. The victims of these floods include people, houses and fields. These floods have claimed lives and left households prone to challenges ranging from shelter, food shortages, reduced or lack of livelihoods, overcrowding, diseases, and unequal access to health and educational facilities. Houses, household assets and utensils have been destroyed leaving people susceptible to diseases, compromised livelihoods. Thus, emergence and livelihoods interventions are important to alleviate the plight.
